Overview[]

Overall, small forwards are the "jack of all trades". They have a balanced set of attributes and possess a skill set that contains both guard and big man skills. Their specialty is the mid range shot, which is generally a guaranteed basket if open (even at a low level).

Play Styles[]

  • Isolation (ISO)
    • Support: an additional play style of ISO, second option for scoring via layup, midshot, and alley-oop when iso pulls big from the paint. Defending and rebounding are emphasized more than scoring. Key skills: box out, chip out, kill pass, non-stop pass, quick jumper, v-cut, pick and move.
  • Shot Selection: A mid shot build basically solo, however, it has no drives just shot selection skills that can be combined such as quick change into hopstep, V cut into Spin move, Jab step, Quick Jumper, double clutch, pull up Jumper, non stop(and Euro Step if you have it) etc. This is a set based on picking what shot at the right time and is usually only assisted by the PG for pump fakes or pass backs. This build requires player's awareness of the situation and pick a shot accordingly.
  • Swing: Swing Styles main components are Drift shot, Fade Away, SP Drive , Quick Jumper and Pull up. This playstyle requires more thought than others since if played incorrectly can cost you a lead. it is the very definition of easy to learn hard to master. The playstyle is a solo orientated playstyle so i suggest you pick up a good Defensive PG and PF/C / you can also play with two bigs when you get better at swing.
